Lady Bird (Claudia Alta) Johnson actively lobbied for the passage of the Highway Beautification Act of 1965 which limited billboards on Federal Highways and called for better planning of our road systems. Her husband did help by putting pressure on the House of Representatives telling them that their vote was a matter of personal honor to his wife.
