"Children are the most wholesome part of our race, for they are fresher from the hands of God"......Herbert Hoover

In 1997, William Wills was named a "Hoover Scholar" and received a grant to do research at the Hoover Presidential Library in West Branch, Iowa. The result of that project is a new touring program which William and Sue Wills will be performing for school children grade levels 4 - 8, as they tour some 27 states with their "Presidents and Their First Ladies, dramatically speaking" presentations.
The name of Hoover for decades has been the name most closely associated with the phrase "The Great Depression" and lost in the turbulent years of the Hoover Presidency was the lifetime of humanitarian efforts both Mr. and Mrs. Hoover put forth, especially in behalf of children.
There are many older people throughout Europe or now living in America whose lives were saved following both World Wars I and II because of the feeding efforts headed up by Mr. Hoover. There are an uncountable number of adults who were touched in their youth by Mrs. Hoover's long and active association with the Girl Scouts OR Mr. Hoover's 28 year stint as Chairman of the Boys Clubs of America (now the Boys and Girls Clubs).
Besides just givings facts as to what the Hoovers did, Mr. and Mrs. Wills, in the characters of Herbert and Lou Hoover, get to say to the children of today many thoughts expressed by the Hoovers themselves to the youth of their generation..... thoughts dealing with TRUTH, PATRIOTISM, ENCOURAGEMENT, HELPING OTHERS, AND HIGH IDEALS. Besides taking away historical facts from the program, the children will also leave with an uplifted feeling about themselves, the future, and America.
But don't take our word for it,look at some comments from both students and teachers.
